Suspended

…because I head-butted Maka Ele after practice. Her main claim to fame is being Vereg’s girlfriend, so I can see why she likes me so much. Not. She was with the rest of the pep squad, hanging around outside the boy locker room when I came out of the girl’s. I went straight to my school locker to get my books but she saw me. She came up to me and started picking fun at my clothing and the fact that she’s never seen me in a dress. Fancy her thinking she’s all that because her dad works as one of the Dictat’s assistant.
“I think you’re a freak, Lily” she said. “Why else would you be playing shockball? It’s unnatural.”
I tried not to reply. Then she yammered on a little more about shockball.
“So when are you and the blind freak leaving? I hear his father is dead, so he won’t be allowed to continue his education here. It would be a good idea if you did too.”
The next thing I heard was the crack of bone and felt a bit of pain in my head. I guess someone must have done something because the next thing I remember is Will locking my arms back and dragging me off her.
Coach came out of his office and we were both sent to the Infirmary. Then after that, the principal called me to his office and banged on about anger management and I told him where to go.

He suspended me right there and then. Will was waiting for me outside of the office when I came out. Maka was fine, standing in front of the school smoking, as usual. Because she felt she’d won, she pointed at me and laughed, whispering to her friends. For some reason, I felt extremely angry and clenched my fist. Maka started coughing and clawing at her throat. Distinctly enough, I heard Will yelling at me to stop but for some reason, no one else did.

On the way home, Will lectured me about my anger. I didn’t want to tell him why I’d hit Maka in the first place but it was just easier to tell him why rather than letting him bang on about it. He was angry at me but he said I should be more careful about my anger and that in Coruscant, it can be a tool used by those who want to take advantage of you.
I know all this. But I’m never going to be important enough that it matters.
